My Point:
This stuff really does happen.
I had the chance to visit Shenzen and Shekou,
cities on the southern tip of
China
(a short
trip from
Hong Kong
) about 10
years ago.
Did
you know that to get a drivers license an individual must
take a 1-2 years driving course?
Additionally, cars are expensive and licenses
aren’t given out to many.
As a result most businessmen have private drivers.
This helps to drive up employment and the roads
aren’t jam packed like they are in some regions of the
world like
Egypt
and
India
.
The government is planning the growth of cities /
infrastructure to ensure stability as the enormous
population migrates to cities.
Did
you know also that people aren’t free to move from the
farms to the cities? You
must have government approval/papers to get into business
districts. Without
the proper papers you aren’t allowed in.
A Chinese businessman (head of a joint venture with
my father’s company) failed to have his papers and had
to spend an additional 2 hours commuting home and back to
get to the office one day.
