Iraqi military women with their weapons parade on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, in Baghdad on the 14th anniversary of the end of the 1980-88 Iraq-Iran War. The parade is coinciding with the ongoing U.S. threats to launch a military offensive on Baghdad. Iraqi President Saddam Hussein pledged in a televised speech to repulse the anticipated attack on his country. (AP Photo/Jassim Mohammed).

My Point:  We kicked the hell out of Iraq ’s “mighty” military once and they still want to come back for more, huh?  At the end of the day a new offensive would be far more dangerous because it would involve city fighting (not open desert).  Casualties within Iraq would be much higher and the political problems arising from such a pre-emptive strike could have global ramifications for the U.S.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Saddam is a NUT and a threat to the U.S. I think he is trying to create weapons of mass destruction and we need to present serious evidence of this ASAP.  I believe intelligence gathering is the most important element right now.

I also believe that Saddam needs to start admitting weapons inspectors ASAP.  An ultimatum should be given to him and the world needs to hold him accountable.  This guy is a psychopath…
