Earlier
this year, approximately late September 2002, I began
posting my NFL picks to the website. The initial
purpose of posting my football picks was to ensure that my buddies
could see the teams that I liked/disliked each week during
the NFL season (all picks are against the point
spread.)
In
the past many people have asked me for my thoughts on the
NFL season since I have, on a historic basis, done pretty
good in predicting football games. On top of that,
many of my friends participate in their office
football pool. More importantly, they like to
win. As a buddy of mine said, "Losing
SUCKS..."
Given
that I had begun the website I thought posting the picks
online would be a good idea and one that others might find
useful/insightful. As
of November 12th, 2001 the website is averaging over 1400
hits a day! Of the 1400 hits per day, over 900 of
them are going towards the football picks. Each week
the number of hits per week has steadily but surely gone
up. I would note that the number of hits doesn't
equal the number of web users. From the web
statistics available it appears as though approximately 10
hits = 1 user. Using some basic math and the data
below we get approximately 40 - 44 web users a day
checking out the football picks.
For
example,
Week
10 averaged 441 hits a day
Week
9 averaged 439 hits a day
Week
8 averaged 78 hits a day
Week
7 averaged 45 hits a day
Week
6 averaged 28 hits a day
Since posting my initial
predictions I have begun a weekly NFL update, where I send
out an e-mail every Thursday night/early Friday morning.
As
of Week 10 I had approximately 35 people that were
receiving the weekly NFL update. The cost, as always,
is free, since the website is already paid for. If
you would like to sign up for the service just click on
the link on the right!
